Hi All,

Please I really need your help to solve this problem.

I was thinking the EGTS (exhaust) sensor was bad. Just replaced it today. But the issue did not goes away.

When I went to ride I got A-TEMP warning, plus limp mode, every single time I pass 4000 rpm...

The ski was not perfect before, but I was almost solving all the issues on it.
It was running very fine, and I only got A-TEMP warning before when I was running above 6500rpm.

But I did something wrong :(
I went to test it last week and I forgot the "valvule in an exhaust cooling hose" closed... Result: the exhaust went to a high temperature fast.... it reached 279F degrees "max temp" on candoo...

I realized something was wrong but just riding for about 2 or 3 minutes with the valve closed, until I realized there was something very wrong .... And so I waited to cool and open the valve ... (I just removed this valvule this week... I did not like that for sure....)

But unfortunately I am finding that I blew the waterbox or something. Because now the ski is worse ... I am having high temperature exhaust even before 4000rpm .... And the performance of the ski is worse, no doubt!!!.

Please, what could happened??
Checking candoon MIN/MAX exhaust temp and realize that the problem is really high exhaust temperature (numbers are in celsius).

If it is the waterbox, what could have happened? And how can I fix it? What is inside of it that may have broken?

You can touch the JPIPE any time you want, even with the A-TEMP alarm sounding... Almost sure it is low temp.... Problem seens to be from waterbox to forward...

Thank you for any help!

Yes the baffle can break. Yes it can bounce around in there and clog the exit.

Pull the wb and check it out...see what's left of your baffle...while you're at it...check the bell on the exhaust manifold.

You got it!
There was a huge piece of bafle loose inside the water box.... it was a big fight to remove it.
And yes, it was just on the exit exhaust tube blocking almost all the 2,5 inch tube!!! I dont know how the engine was running!!

I believe the problem is gone, I will test it tomorrow.

JPipe looks fine and that 3 holes are clear.

Sorry to ask but what is "the bell" on the exhaust manifold?

Thanks

The bell is the end of the exhaust manifold...that which is covered by the V-clamp.

You gonna get a new wb?

Nice, thanks. I already reassemble all the parts, but I checked there and looks like fine. No exhaust leak also.

About the wb I´m thinking what to do.
Maybe I will open it, revise it, and do like that picture you sent (shorty wb mod), or who knows, buy a new one from TDR.

I will test tomorrow since I remove the pieces, and see.

Any suggestion about a new wb?

Thanks

The shorty mod is definately do-able....but make sure you replace that baffle if it was the one that protected the bottom.

If you get a TDR et al, make sure it'll work for the older skis....different J-pipe connection on newer skis.

You gonna do thru hull exhaust?

Thanks for all tips!

I´m seriously considering do the thru hull exhaust (bad ass sound)
If I go this way, can I connect a direct hose from the wb to the thru hull exhaust, or do I have to use a "curve" hose to avoid "direct water entrance" to the wb?

Thanks!!

Ski is perfect now!
red2blue, thanks for your help!

Went to test it today and dream-o-meter hits 64 in the beginning, with cold wind and perfect "water mirror".

Could run for several minutes wot, no problem!!

I saw these waterbox failure sounds pretty common! I will improve that!

Thank You!

Turn J-pipe upside down.. the long piece that fits into the water box...look at the top of it you will see 3 holes. Wanna make sure they aren't clogged...also that no clamps interfere. Some have opened them a bit...careful though...enlarge one size no bigger.
