I have a 1995 hx that won't hold a charge. I charge the battery and get a 5 minute ride before it shuts down. What should I check first? I know there isn't a traditional alternator but something keeps the battery charged. Hopefully this isn't too expensive. Thanks for the help!

Hx charging problem

There are a lot of components that make up the charging system in Seadoos. The most common problem us the Rectifier/Regulator going bad. Easy test with a multimeter, start up the engine and connect your meter to the battery post. Set to Vdc scale and bring engine to 5500 RPM. If multimeter reads over 15 volts, regulator is defective.
