How to turn off engine?

92 SP, it won't turn off unless you pull the spark plug wires off. All the switches check out ok, the tether is off but it still runs. What am I missing here. This belongs to a friend so I'm new to seadoos. No smashed wires.

The rev-limiter is probably dead. As I recall... the tether, and the kill switch go into the rev-limiter, and that isolates the switches from high voltage. Water, and high voltage at a switch isn't a good combo.

You can normally find the old style (Pre-MPEM) rev limiters on ebay for $10. (used)

Dr. Honda, I`m having the same problem but with a `96 SPX. I had to change the flywheel and stator assembly but had some problems with wiring and had to re-wire the charging coils. After that everything started and ran really well , until I tried to turn off the engine. It wouldn`t stop running till I choked it. Is it possible I damaged theMPEM or is the problem somewhere else?

Rev limiter

I had the same problem on a 2006 rxt but I got ti to shut off, it cherped for about half hr as I towed it on trailer, when I got to house I put the key back on started it and shut it down, ok, used it a few more times good, today put key on post, dash lights up but no cherp and won't start?

You could have... but I'm willing to bet you didn't get the kill wire hooked back up... or one of the grounds on the MPEM isn't hooked up.


On the 720 engine... the MPEM just grounds the wire between the MAG coil, and the Ignition coil.
