How to tell if sc washers were done by previous owner

PO told me he had it done; didn't have paperwork "handy" when I bought it. Told me done at xyz stealership...Bought it 2-1/2hrs away from home so it could have been anywhere.
In my feverish searching this w/e I ran into a post saying that if it were done per SD specs there w/b washers between the sc and mating surface or the like I believe it said. Needless to say I can't find that post...
How could I tell w/o removing the sc?
Help? Or was I smoking something this w/e and just saw what I think I saw; see?

With motor off......remove the intake hose from the sc. Insert index finger into the sc and try to turn the blades. If they turn with ease...or even with difficulty...they're trashed. if you can move the blades about a 1/16th of an inch...norm.

Have they ever been replaced?...only way to tell is to pull the sc and take a look.

yeah I was lucky enough or smart enough to save mine when I replaced them. I figured if and when I ever sell the boat and they did their homework they would ask and I could at least show the original ceramics.

If in doubt pull the SC and make sure. I rode on the edge for two seasons and it's a much better feeling once you know there's is less of a chance of those things blowing through your engine.

The only way to be sure is to pull the SC out and take the slip/clutch washers off it and see if they're light as plastic or heavy like metal. The ceramic washers look like metal, but they weigh almost nothing it's like they're made of a hard plastic! There is no other way to tell for certain except to have the washers in your hand (or you might can try sticking a small magnet to them without removing them from the SC shaft, a small magnet will stick to the upgraded metal washers but won't stick to the ceramic washers which are located on either side of the drive gear btw!).

Pulling the SC off isn't too difficult, maybe take an afternoon to pull it check it and re-install it if you can use a magnet to check the washers rather than taking them off the shaft. SC's should be COMPLETELY rebuilt (not just the washers) every 100 hrs of operation btw, they are considered a wear item!
