Hey guys, my ski just went over 100 hrs and I wanted to check the grease in the jet pump to confirm that all the seals were still doing their job. The previous owner changed the impeller and had changed the impeller and I noticed the grease was pretty much all in the cone and not around the bearing. There was also different shades of green in it so I figured changing the grease along with the o-rings couldnt hurt.

My questions:

1.The grease in the pump was green. Can this be OEM or was it something the previous owner put in? I ask because the new BRP synthetic grease I bought was white.

2.I packed the bearing area pretty well and the single tube left me with just enough to fill the cone about 1/4. Is this suffiecient or should I get another tube and fill the rest of the cone?

Thanks in advance for any responses!

I will likely be checking my pump soon, and as a tag onto mohav's question, do we need to purchase the grease from Seadoo or are there alternative brands that would work with the 4-tec pumps? What is the specification for the grease? Does anyone know of a good source to purchase grease other than from Seadoo?

Thanks!
Deven

I use synthetic gear oil about 3/4 full. You dont have to use oil but I think it takes better care of the bearings than the grease does. The grease tends to stay in the cap and not so much on the bearings.Royal Purple or Amsoil are good products
