how many poles for magnetos?

I'm not a SeaDoo owner but I like the small tachs I see for the craft - I'd like to install one for my Nissan outboard. Can anyone tell me if any of the Sea Doo products use 4-pole magnetos? - I may be able to use the tach from one of those for my application. I'm not too knowledgeable about magnetos and such, so I apologize in advance if this question doesn't compute. Thanks, Mike
