I have tried for well over an hour to remove the oil filter cover from my 05 Seadoo GTX Ltd. I have pulled and pryed. Yes I removed the screw first. I'm the second owner and this is my first oil change. Any help me.

Try a plastic putty knife. go slow....limit any scarring.

I use an old dull hawks bill knife.

Hope you got a set of o-rings to go with the filter. Most times the thin top one gets ruined.

I guess i'll figure out what size bolt to fit in the center hold , screw it in and pull. I'll just buy a new cover.

Try a long 1/4" extension in the screw hole. Move it back and forth with the extension while pulling up with your other hand on the cover. A little persistence this way will get it to come off. Just fought mine last week.

Try some penetrant oil. Lightly tap with small hammer just enough to put some vibration to it. Tap around after you soak with oil. Don't force it too hard. Slowly work it so you don't damage it. ..
..
After you get it apart, lube the o-rings with a silicone grease that is good to 500°F. That will keep it from do that again. The silicon connector di-electric grease should do.

Yea got it off, but destoryed the cover and put some chew marks on the oil filter housing. Ordered new cover snd orings today. Thanks for all the suggestions. Sean

Wish I saw this earlier. I made a tool that works, its a long piece of threaded rod with a large washer and nut on one end and then a nylon lock nut on the other that is ground down just so it fits in the hole that you take the bolt out of. You then get it to catch on the lip and you pull straight up. Works every time. I will take a pic of it tonight.
