Impeller and wear ring question:

Last week I had a rock stuck between the shaft and the intake grate I have the original grate that opens. I was able to take it out from the intake grate and I thought I got lucky since it didn’t go through to the impeller. My boat is cavitating now and not going past 10mph.

What should I check do I need an impeller and wear ring? Should I change anything else?

I found an impeller on Amazon is this the right one? good brand or do you guys recommend something else.

SOLAS MC-CD-22/39 - Impeller/Concord Amazon.com: SOLAS MC-CD-22/39 - Impeller/Concord : Sports & Outdoors

Where do you recommend getting the wear ring? I found this.

Sea-Doo Wear Ring (155 MM) GTX/Speedster/Sportster/Utopia/GTI/Islandia/Challe...

Thank you

Where do I clean it up is their a website where I can send it or local?

And which wear rings are recommended where do I find the part number and which store?

Sorry I have a lot of questions first time boat owner got the boat a month ago.

Thank you

Is their direct messaging on this forum? Or I can tag him?
Thank you for your help if it was not for this forum I wouldn’t have bought a boat. Although it’s giving me a hard time and it’s my fault I’m still loving it

I started removing parts from the back and go to the impeller. Their is one big groove but everything else looks good. Could that be enough to loose top speed from 50mph to 30? Please look at the pictures and give me your thoughts.

You have plenty of damage there to lose 20mph. What is your top RPM now?

Your leading edges of impeller are really bad. The edge should be .015-.020 inch thick and smooth. Your wear ring is pretty worn. If the wear ring is worn, the outside of the impeller blades are worn some, too. The 2 wear items add up to "internal leak" and loss of thrust. Combined with blade leading edge damage- I am surprised you only lost 20 mph.

Can't tell what xx179 pic is.

Your stator vanes have some damage, too. A little love from a Dremel and suitable sanding drum would help that.

(Remember- Blades rotate, vanes are stationary.)

Impros.com can repair your impeller, wear ring, and stator.

Do I need to say 2 more words-

Deeper water.

Thank you for your reply highly appreciated.

First picture of a rock that got stuck between the intake grate and the shaft. Top rpm is still the same goes to 7200~7300 I think.

I was able to remove all the screws and to loosen the wear ring but I could not take it out. The steering cable is bolted to the housing in a tight spot I am not able to get any tools to do the job. I have no clue how to take it off. I attached a few pictures please give me ideas on how to take it out.

Thank you

My top speed is 30mph with 2 adults and 3 kids on board.

You will need what is known as a "crow foot" wrench. I think 7/8 inch. Not sure. It looks like you already have the lock tab bent clear. Start with WD40 (whatever) on the threads of the steering cable. Remove the rubber bellows. Use crowfoot and extension and ratchet on the nut. You can only get a little rotation of the nut at a time. You may need to loosen the hose clamp (in the bilge) the steering cable passes through. You may be able to pull wear ring aft a little while working on the nut.

Important-- remove the impeller nut BEFORE you remove the wear ring. The wear ring supports everything while you are pulling on wrench. The nut is tight- 150 ft-# plus corrosion. Again- WD40 on the nut. 2 flats on the shaft inside the pump tunnel. 2 people works best. No impact wrench.

7300rpm is over-revving. Past red-line. Don't.

Replace both rubber bellows while you are down there.
