Okay hello everybody, I am working on a 1997 seadoo spx 787 and I am not getting any spark,
my list i've done and much more.
Battery good and charged, stator good, key/laynard good and working, checked my grounds all good. checked my MPEM and check in the priameters to the specs in the manual (yes I isolated the MPEM from any power source) it is currently out of the Hull, for the test I did, note this MPEM is a small SQUARE one not the newer longer rectangular ones. the 5amp and 15amp fuses are good. I have checked over the ski numerious times and can not find anything out of the ordinary, please help. I need to get this ski back up and running to sell.

I did pull the cover off the VTS and it took in water caroded and bad looking disconnected the harness going in from the rear power box and the switch that goes into the vts, still no spark, didnt know if this would or relivant to my problem, I have been reading up on this site and some people are saying it does.. I'm still not sure.

note I did come to a thought it might be the rev limiter? is this a possibility. and its saying the only way to check the RL in the manual is to use a tach and check the peak output while running. STUMPED it wont run or spark for that matter... so I can not use this test method.

Please anything will help me this one is just stumping me and can not figure it out.

thanks, Jeremy.

Since it's an 800 engine... I'm going to bet that the pulse coil broke from it's mount. Take the cover off the flywheel, and I bet you will see it just sitting in there. (We see it here all the time)

thanks, Doc. and i'll check that out when im in the shop today. i did test the trigger wire that goes from the trigger in the stator housing and comes out thru the mpem and to the coil its a white wire. and im not getting any power from the wire to the coil.. but im going to check that trigger. (visually) also the previous owner fanaggled with the key/kill switch and im wondering is that could have fried the kill siwtch in teh MPEM and is keeping it to ground or so, but in that case would it still turn teh eng over?..

thanks, Doc.....

If the lanyard wasn't working... it wouldn't crank.
