Hi
I am obsessing over a 1998 Seadoo Challenger 18. The ad says its a model 5611 and has twin 46 hp engines. My research indicates it should be a 110 hp x 2. They are asking $ 5000

I had a Seadoo gtx jetski but never had one of these boats ....
Can anyone help with :
Opinions
Warnings on maintenance
46 hp vs 110 hp???
Recurring problems
How long are these engines good for ?
What is the cost to rebuild / replace the motor ?
Is the upholstery cheap or does it last ?
Can it spin ?
Top speed
Fuel consumpsion ?

Any = all help / comments appreciated
Charlie

yeah that boat shoud have twin 787cc 110hp engines; if you had a GTX then depending on the year; it will be basically 2 of those engines; I also have a 1996 GTX and it has the 787cc engine; so if your gtx had the 787cc engine then basically whatever you did to that engine; double it:hurray:; my brother had a 1999 Challenger 1800; pretty fun boat; just a little to big for what I wanted; great family boat

Hi Charlie DO NOT BUY IT !

cHARLIE, I OWNED ONE OF THE 5611. I found it to be very underpowered with the twin 46HP engines. With the boat loaded with the max 7 people you could only reach speeds of around 28-32. Interior quality is ok. Look at a 120HP SEARAY before you buy and compare. Hope this helps!

I think you're reading two different things. The engines are 110HP and the pumps output 46HP. Kinda like the difference in a car between engine HP and rear wheel HP.

If I recall, at top speed, fuel is 22g/hr. About half that at 30mph

Look at SBT for rebuilt engines. They're about $900. Do a compression test on the engine before you buy. You want to see all the numbers at least over 100-110 for an OK engine.
