Hi Everyone, I'm new to Seadoo boats and the forum. Can anyone help me out. I have a 97 SeaDoo Speedster tiwn engine. The carbs have just been cleaned and I took the boat out for the first time. The starboard side engine goes up to 8000 rpm, but it has a serious lack of power, like I'm only going 15 mph. The port side engine shuts off after 5000 rpm, then after like 5-10 minutes of running, I get the high temp audible alarm. Can anyone help me, I have a 4 year old son that is dying to go boating and this thing won't work right.

Thanks,

Steve

sounds like, you need to pull both pumps, and install new wear rings, and for "high temp", next time it sounds off, feel the motors, see if they're hot, if not, you got faulty temp sensor, also, they'll make that sound, if your low on gas, may need to disconnect the plug from tank (has pink wires), if your gas gauge is messed up.

Also, with 5k rpm, might wanna pull/re go thru, those carbs again.

Ok, Pleasant Valley Marina replaced the starboard wear ring, and they cleaned the carbs on both engines. My gas guage does not work, so I will try unplugging the pink wires to see if that helps. When the alarm went off last time both engines were warm, but not hot. I then had to wait 10 min before the alarm would allow me to restart the engines. Do you think that the high speed screw needs adjusted, since I can't get over 5000 rpms? Before I dropped it back off to the marina I could get wideopen on both engines

yeah, i'd put my money on the "rebuild kit", that they switched out the n/s spring, inside each, and now the "pop-off" is all screwed up, especially since you mentioned, you have 7k rpm, prior to rebuilds. Also, pull the rave caps, and see if the bellows lift up, if not, undo the allen bolts, pull the entire unit out, and clean the guitines.
