Hey guys, I pulled this engine from a 2000 RX. Guy said he rode it last year and didn't winterize it. PTO cylinder side looks pretty bad. What causes this and how long would it take for the engine to get like this? I have another engine I'm putting together for the ski which is a carbed Millennium edition RX.RX Engine Locked up (2).JPEGRX Engine Locked up (3).JPEGRX Engine Locked up (4).JPEGRX Engine Locked up (5).JPEG

It would never get that way from sitting or condensation. It got flooded with water somehow. I’ve seen it when someone left the drain plugs in and rain water flooded it.

We had a few days of rain and I noticed my foot wells were overflowing with water. I thought my old traction pad area was leaking some as some rivets were replaced with screws. Sure enough about 3” water in the bottom of the hull and the drain plugs were open. The way the trailer was sitting it wouldn’t drain out. So it got the old pads tore out, holes filled and new pads placed. But I was wondering if this could happen..... flooding an engine from rain water.

I got in the habit of leaving the plugs out of all the skis and making sure they drain out the rain water.

How long do you think it would take for the engine to reach this state after getting flooded?

I am blessed to have engines available to replace this one. Do you think this one is rebuildable?

I don't trust anything, even the ones that run. At least though, you know they have a electrical system that's working to some degree. :D

I just bought this 2003 RX DI. I started right up. I'll go through everything as usual but his might be an exception. :) $600 for the ski and trailer. I borrowed the seat for my ugly RX and the body in hull is in better condition than old ugly LOL
