So Ive been doing what I can to get my 95 XP started and running but still having issues and im running out of clues. Currently it will only fire up and run off starting fluid down the carbs. when i re-attach main fuel line and try to fire, it seems to be flooding out MAG side cylinder. I do have a see thru filter right before the carbs, and when i crank, the fuel pump Is sucking gas up into the carbs but it then wont start. Like I stated, It will start and keep running if my source is spraying starting fluid with no fuel line attached.
I just rebuilt both carbs and also changed all the stock grey fuel lines and cleaned out everything. compression is on the lower side but almost even, both 123 PSI. I have done no adjustments to either carbs since picking it up from the last owner. When inspecting the front side sparkplug after attempting to start, it appears too wet.
ALSO, I did get it started with the fuel line attached but not until i shot starting fluid down the carbs, and as it was idling, throttle responded as I revved it up. HOWEVER, it shot a good deal of oil out the back exhaust hole when i throttled up.
anyone know whats going on?? is this a flooding of gas or too much oil or ???? im out of ideas on my own.
The only other thing with the ski i found and havent looked at yet is gas does not come thru to the carbs on the Main tank, will only come up on the Reserve tank setting, so Need to pull and check the fuel pickups inside the tank. Also, i did just put 4 or 5 gallons of gas into it, and my fuel gauge is still blank and fuel light stays on.
Can someone please make any suggestions would be much appreciated. thanks.
