Hi, I recently purhcased a 95 SPX. I took it out once to test it before i bought it, it ran great.

Ran it once after that - great.

Next time it died on me, issue was taht the fuel filter cap came unscrewed and the fuel filter came out. Fixed that.

Now ever since then its just ran terrible. I thought maybe just the plugs, so I got new plugs (and gapped them correctly) and its still running terrible.

It fires up fine. It sounds fine out of the water (but only leave it running for a few sec so kind of hard to telll!)

When I get it in the water it will barley run. Sometimes I have to give it just a little gas and let it start to get going before I can give it more gas. It seems like its just flooding itself with tons and tons of fuel.

It almots sounds like its running under water (i know that might sound stupid, but it just has that "blub blub blub sound).

It was at the point where it was barley moving. I noticed my trim was not adjusting, it was preivously working fine. Finally the trim randomlys tarted to work and it appeard that it was runing a little better. COuld that be related at all? somehow electirical?

or would you think its a carb/fuel or air issue? or could something be filling up with water that its not supposed to???

i have little knowledge on this thing.

Any advice on what to check would be great. It seemed to run great before the fuel filter came off. Now its just weird. When I say it will barley run I mean, stalling every minute, and barley moving faster than like a no wake speed

im lost and very frustrated!

install new plugs, disgard the inline filter, and install one from any parts store/motorcycle store, make usre bottle has oil in it, and give it a gander. Thnk whats happening is, the "inline" filters' o-ring is bad/gone, and ur pulling air.

interesting. will check that out! just any inline fuel filter from ana uto parts store will work?

hardest part about this is testing it out. wish i lived on the lake and could just jump on it for a quick spin!!

i just put the new plugs in last week.. think I should again?? i havn't pulled them out to look at them yet.

thanks i appreciate it!

You can run the jetski out of the water for up to 5 seconds before it needs to be water cooled. There should be a T line in the water cooling output from the engine block. Conncet a garden hose to it and pinch off the water outtake. Basically you are water cooling the block backwards from normal operation. Someone should confirm that I am correct here...

thanks, i confirmed what you said is correct in the manual. there is a little black hose with another littler hose connected to it.. not sure what i can use to connect to that..

is it bad to get too much in there..or too little? I'm sure I can rig something up from the hose to feed into it.. but not sure if it should be limited or the full blast from the hose coming in?

o ring on the in line filter (that is the one under the hood, with the cap that screws over it, right?) seems to be OK and seems to be sealing up ok so i dont think its sucking air there?

everything im reading seems like could be the gray lines and filters causing the problem? Just seems weird to me that it ran 100% fine when i got them, then a week later they now run crappy. i dont see how they would have just instantly clogged like that.

definatly need to replace the gray lines and clean the filters in the carbs. i had a fuel filter sucking air and i replaced it with a cheap $4 one and it fixed my problem. and if yours just came unscrewed odds are it is leaking also it will leak and no fuel is pulled to the carbs. clean or bypass the selector switch also
