My efforts to find out why my 99 gtx ltd fills with water have led to this. after fixing a small leak I fired it up and it started leaking at the head pipe to manifold gasket right away, I don't see how I missed before but never the less. The motor seems no worse off so I hope I caught it in time, Though it appears some water was leaking in the exhaust side.

So my question is, looking on the internet there are too opptions for this gasket most places sell just the gasket, SBT sells it with a special boot. is either recommended? Also I'd like to check the crankcase oil for water but for the life of me can't find the fill plug.

Thanks again.

Gasket

Hi JESSE,
The engine doesn't have crankcase oil like your car. Therefore there isn't a fill or a drain plug. If water has entered the crankcase because of the leaking gasket the only way to get it out is to ride the ski for about 2 hrs. This will evaporate any water that may be in there. I strongly suggest you ride as soon as possible so rust does'nt have a chance to set in. I would just buy the gasket only. The boot you're refering to was a SEADOO idea. The idea was that if the gasket was to leak then the boot would keep water from dripping on to the carbs. I"ve never seen the value in this and it can keep you from seeing a leaking gasket. Good luck,
DAWG
