Put my 01 GTX back together today, followed the service manual, religiously,,everything torqued in sequence and to specs,, everything meticously cleaned,, started the engine,,let it idle about a minute,,started the water supply for cooling and to check water flow through the engine and see if i had water coming out of the "pisser,,previously had a flow blockage, overheating, had to relplace the head, exhaust manifold and the complete pipe due to saltwater corrosion,,been a night mare,
anyways,, when i was checking for water leaks with the engine idleing,,,i got some water pooling up on the head side of the gasket,, no leaks anywhere else,,,i sanded the head with a block and 32o grit paper,,,sanded the cylinder side with 400, just to clean up any leftover gasket material and clean up any residue i didnt use any type of sealer on the gasket,, the manufacturer said not needed,,, no leakage below the gasket, so im guessing the head might be warped.
can the head be machined? and what is the safest amount of removal before any interferance problems with the pistons bumping the head? any help appreciated thanks
