Have to hold full throttle to get ski to barely idle

Hello to everybody. New member but I’ve been stalking your threads for a little while and getting tons of info from you guys. So onto my problem. I just recently acquired a 96 GTX that had been sitting for some time. Rebuilt carbs replaced fuel line and put fresh fuel. Took ski out and it ran great except had an issue with cavitation. Installed new wear ring and took ski back out yesterday and cavitation was worse. Then ski started to stumble so I switched to reserve as I’ve read on here before and ski finally picked up. I shut the ski off and now the only way it will run is if I hold full throttle and it will barely idle. Plugs are coated in oil but not much fuel smell. I’m a diesel mechanic and have worked on 2 stroke dirt toys but I’m on a learning curve with the water toys. Any and all help will be appreciated.

The carbs need to be at factory spec and tuned spot on. Did you use genuine Mikuni carbs parts to rebuild? Did you follow the sticky post about rebuilding the carbs?

It took me quite a few tries before I finally got my '96 GTX carbs dialed in perfect....now she starts properly on the water and runs like the wind.

Yes I used factory parts and no I didn’t follow the sticky. I’m new to this forum stuff. This is the first one I’ve joined so I’m still figuring out how to navigate around lol. I just wouldn’t think an adjustment would change after shutting ski off. It was doing 48mph before just had to feather it to get out of cavitation.
