Hi, I am new to the forum. I bought my first PWC ever back in March, a 1995 Seadoo SPi!! I took it to the lake and it ran great, with little problems (it did have a small idle issue that was fixed when I ran a can of Seafoam through the engine). Anyway, as time progressed, it got harder and harder to start. The last time I took it out, it took me almost two minutes to get it started! The funny part is, it starts relatively quickly when it is out of water, but when it is in water the starting issues occur. I did take it to a mechanic to rebuild the carbs, but that did not fix the issue. Do any of you guys have any ideas (I have no idea where to begin)??
Thanks!

Have you checked your spark plugs. If they looked fouled, replace them. If you still have the gray fuel lines, you need to replace them and have the carbs re- cleaned, as the gray fuel lines deteriorate from the inside out and cause the carbs to clog. If you do need new fuel lines, you can get them and replacement clamps at Auto Zone. you will need about 16ft worth and about 12 stainless steel clamps. Bring a sample of the fuel line to get the correct size.

Checked the sparkplugs today and there good. The fuel lines are gray though (makes sense, the motor has never been replaced in it so it has all of the original fuel lines). I'll clean the carbs out and replace the fuel lines. Thanks for the Help!!

never assume a spark plug is firing even if it looks good , this has bit me in the ass sooooo many times its not funny any more . more than once i have had 2 spark plugs , both new , like 5 minutes old , and while tuning a seriously out of tune motor one plug was very black and wet and the other was severly tan and dry . well knowing than one cly was not firing and by looking at the plugs i chunker the blck one and replaced it . wrong! always verify spark at the plug by carefully holding the spark plug on the engine and crank it over . mind the gas fumes and intake charge fromthe open cly when you do this if you like your eye brows !
