1998 gtx limited. took it out on the lake, ran fine for a few minutes, then noticed loss of power. i turned back to shore, then shut it down. major water in bilge, nearly drawing into air intake. checked plugs, both were tight. drained water out, retightened drain plugs. i ran the machine again while on the trailer, it does seem to be filling up with water slowly while idling. does not seem to be filling with water when engine is off. I suspect it will load up like crazy when i get the revs up. with a trouble light i looked very thoroughly for a cracked hose or engine puking water but found nothing. any ideas....can the bilge pick-ups siphon water into the bilge if they are defective....

Yes, the bailers (bilge pick-ups) will pull water into the hull if you are missing the siphon tubes. You can see them if you look into your jet nozzle at the rear. You should see two small plastic tubes sticking out a few inches back from the end of your nozzle. It is the water rushing by these tubes that creates a vacuum to pull water out of the bilge.

If the siphon tubes have fallen out, you would see empty recessed holes that they go into. In this case there is no vacuum, and water gets sucked in.

yeah i see two holes machined into the aluminum approx 1 inch + in depth....so there should be tubes in there? do you think this would cause such a huge amount of water to enter? i am estimating 6-8 inches of water in 5 minutes...

Yes... if the tubes are missing... you will pump water into the hull. (Just like DJredman99 said)

I have the same issue, lots of water in hull through the bailers.

I see two black hard plastic tubes when I look into the jet nozzle, but i still get water through the bailers. Could they be cracked? Do they just spin out?

I have a 1995 GTX.
