gtx 1000? hmmm you meen the 947/951 limited model right?
the 130 horse two stroke twin
start by pulling the tuned pipe off, this is the big purple exhaust pipe coming from the exhaust manifold to the muffler
it can be taking off as a assembly the manual will tell you different
the connection at the exhaust manifold has 3 bolts and one stud with a nut
this nut can be a pain to remove if you dont have the right wrench
after pipe is off, remove front motor mount and stick a piece of wood under engine to support it, now remove the front cover "the magneto cover" of the engine
now you will see the bendix gear, me thinks you got to pull the flywheel to get her out? i could be wrong, its been awhile.
you could try to lube it up and try to free her up, but make sure you put the cover back on with at least a coulpe bolts before you try it, you dont need the pipe on for this test.
but if your that far into it, might as well replace it, cause if it were to fail again, ya got to take it apart , again !
good luck
