1. What do you do if you get gravel in the impeller? Stopped for lunch and was going to coast it so shore and shut it off before the water got shallow. But, you know the rest. After lunch if was full of gravel. I tried forward, neutral and reverse and finally got it out. Hopefully I did not do any damage. Is this the correct method?
2. What about a safety chain? To get mine on it puts so much slack in the chain I’m not sure how much it would help. Would a cam strap around the trailer and through the eye work just as good?

Short of getting the rocks out by hand your only other choice is to run it. The problem is, you can easily wipe out the wear ring and damage the impeller. I'd be shocked if your ring is not damaged. If you get high revs but poor speed you have a wear ring and or impeller issue.

I had two plastic coated with clevis clips made. Bolted one end to the trailer and clip the clevis through the eye.

At a minimum shorten your chain. You want just enough to be able to hook it to the ski.

I don't like open hooks. This is why I went to a snap closed hook.

Gravel in the impeller.

When I dock my sea-doo I sometimes get debris, gravel in the impeller. Not always, but it depends on how choppy it is around the dock. I have always done this: 1) when I start the ski I go very slowly and if I feel reistance, I go back down to idle, then 2) start slowly again, gradually accelerating, but not WOT, back to idle, 3)then a quick jab of the throttle, but not WOT a couple of times. Does the trick most of the time. I some times go backwards then forwards, after 2) above.
