i've got a 97 gti. i took it out on the water a few days ago and ran it around for a few minutes to get all the old gas burned through. after a couple minutes it ran fine, after about 40 minutes i ran low on gas and put it on reserve but before that it started to run weaird. it had trouble getting up to plane speed and once it did it would cut out then kick back in. i took it out today and it got up to plane speed once and started cutting out again so i stopped and checked a few things and got back on the water, now when i full throttle it just stays around idle speed and doesn't pick up at all. i came home changed the spark plugs cleaned the carb and took it back out but it's still doing the same thing full throttle stays at about idle speed. almost feels as though the choke is on but its not. any help please??

sounds like a carb clean out is in your future. clean the little filter in the carb.
