Grease starter shaft?

Ok, I am replacing my starter again this year after putting in a used OEM last year. Rebuilt my original OEM and will install tonight. I can't find what I consider a definitive answer, so my question to you all is, do you grease, lube the starter shaft with anything? Reason I ask is because I have had the gear stick out against the flywheel. Maybe bent shaft or some debris holding things up, but I am just curious what you all do.

maybe some light grease on the shaft, but not too much. you want it to slide smoothly so it doesn't stick
