Grease drive shaft

The manual says to use a synthetic grease. I use Mystic Synthetic General Purpose Grease, its in the large tube. They have it at Walmart.

You're talking about the grease fitting on the flywheel drive shaft connection.
I don't think you would need to use marine grade grease, as this fitting is out of the water, and is sealed.

Lou

I guess I was wrong, my ski only has one grease fitting at the flywheel, other skis have another fitting on the rear bearing (mine doesn't have a rear bearing). If your ski has a rear bearing it would be a good idea to use marine synthetic grease on the rear bearing.

Were you talking about your 96 gti, Lou? I noticed that too, working on mine, thought something wasn't right.

Yep, it was the 96GTI, I've been using SuperTech marine grease, the same stuff I use for trailer bearings. I get it at "The Store", Walmart where else?

Riding Gear XPS Synthetic Grease

Never failed me and last for a few seasons....Someone told me its made for the high speeds and heat plus water push...

On the flywheel drive shaft connection on my GSX I use the walmart marine... works great...

One more thing, Lou. My model # sticker is missing from the back of the ski. I know they made 2 models of the 96 gti. How would I know which model it is? Trying to buy new plugs for it. THanks. Mine has the 717. Not sure if that helps.

i use mobil 1 synthetic grease on everything, real nice, thick, red in color, not super expensive, seems to do a real nice job

There were two models and the difference was fairly minor. The 5865 has the standard seat, it's the model that you and I have. Model 5866 has the touring seat.
