I was driving my PWC on a long flat inland waterway at almost full throttle when I lost all electronics and the motor died. It would not start up right away, and after a few minutes, and taking the lanyard off, it chirpped chirpped and started. I thought I had ingested seaweed, but that was not the case. The PWC than ran normally, at idle while I made my way through the channels out to the large Lake. I ran the boat like it was meant to, hard, soft, turns, etc. for about an hour without any other problems. Then all of a sudden, it did the same thing again. I could only get it to start by taking the laynard off then put back on to get the chirp chirp. It would not start by just leaving it on. I did get it back to the dock, but had to go at idle speed the whole way, because everytime after, it would not let me power up any more than about 2000 RPM's.

I wonder if I am having electrical problems because the electronics shut down. I have not found any reason for that. Everything electrical is tight and no water or condensation has gotten into it.

I then wonder if I have bad spark plugs or there is something else wrong. Could bad spark plugs shut the whole boat down like that?

If anyone else has had this problem, please advise what you did to solve it. I am quite mechanical, and would rather do it myself than take it to the dealer.

how long do you have to let it sit after it shuts down on you. It could be overheating and the computer is killing it so you dont fry it. Also how much oil do you have in it that could cause this too.

The first time I let it sit a couple of minutes while I tried to think of what was wrong. Each time after, I just pulled the laynard and put it back on, got it to crank and start.

Ya know, my oill level was somewhere above 1/4 tank, but less than a 1/2. I didn't get a warning on the screen. My other boat did that so I knew I had to fill it up then....

Both of my boats are the same and roughly need the same maintenence at the samt time.... it could be that, I guess???

Had same issue, bought a DESS post of ebay and installed it, no problem since. I have read on here that the post is magnetic and looses strength over time. It solved my problem.

Yes that could possibly be the problem but its not likely on that new of a ski. Usually if your oil tank is that low it will bounce the float and the computer cant read it right so to save the engine the computer will kill the engine or Like you said only let it go to a certain rpm range. Then when the engine is off and you rehook the lanyard on the computer will recalculate and see the float is abouve operating range and let it run ok till it repeats itself.
