ok trying to fix my fuel sending unit. Two issues, first my unit has three wires so what ones do you use to test it with a volt meter, what setting do I use on the volt meter. Next it looks like there is a issue with S1, not sure if I hit it or something but there is something sticking up and is not solder on the other side. Were does the other side go. See pics

Looks like you cut the s1 glass red switch. Replace it or replace the unit.
Set your meter on resistance for up to 1 ohm setting.
Not sure what the 3 wires are. Normally there are only 2.

What model do you have ?

It is out of my 1998 seadoo speedster. I have an old fuel unit out of a jet ski that I can take the glass read out of. Are all the glass reads the same or do I need to take it out is s1 from my old unit

I know you're not going to want to hear this but when I tackled my fuel sending unit, as soon as I read that it might be the magnet in the bottom of the tank or a faulty float or a fried circuit board or a burnt fuse and jumping the fuse might be risky (but probably not) I immediately went to Ebay and paid $30 for a known good replacement to eliminate the messing around. Just saying, you could probably have one delivered by the end of next week. Took me an hour to swap out and the fuel bars lit up immediately and felt like the candles on a birthday cake :)

My problem is we are leaving for vacation tonight so I don't have time to order a new one. I think I will just try to replace the read and see what happens

Yes you can change it as long as the reed switches are the same length.

Just be careful and test it before you install it.

So I was able to solder on the glass reed from my old junk sending unit onto this one. Tested it and it works great, I now show how much fuel I have.

Good job. Some people like to add a fuse inline for safety as it was originally designed but lots of people also haven't done that with no trouble.
