hello everyone, i am new to this forum. i am currently dealing with a problem. i own a 2000 seadoo gs 718cc(85hp) its never given me and issues over the past 4 years until as of this summer. i have been having to ride the seadoo with the fuel selector switch on "reserve", however it idles on the "on" position it wouldnt throttle out unless it was on reserve. i took it out last weekend ran great on "reserve" so i kept riding it as normal. but towards the end of the weekend it started cutting out and dying then it would restart. i pulled it out of the water and cleaned the fuel sediment bowl and the little filter thats on there to and checked the spark plugs which are brand new they looked fine. then i relaunched it with the same results it would idle fine until i hit the gas then it would die out. so i then took it home and was going to start it to blow the water out of it. and now it wont crank with a good battery. i was wondering if maybe a bad fuel pump would cause it not to crank or what it could be. i will add ive never cleaned the carbs and need to replace the gray fuel lines, but i dont think that would be the reason for it not cranking. i still get 2 beeps then hit the start button it kinda drags for a minute then i get one long been. any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks.

It sounds like the engine has been running lean. Remove the spark plugs, ground the spark plug wires and see it the engine will turn over with the starter, then see if you can turn the motor over by hand (turning the PTO). If it doesn't remove the pump and see if you can turn the motor over by hand, turning the PTO.

If you can get the motor to turn over, get compression readings.

Lou, i just now recharged my battery on a quick charge( its about a year old and i know they dont last to long) just as a secound thought before messing with the pto and all of that) i am happy to say i got it to crank and turn over although, when i hit the starter button the oil light comes on then goes off im not sure if thats normal never noticed it before but it maybe just the weak battery causing it (i run the oil injection system, ive never had a problem with it) now the only problem is it just sounds like its not getting much fuel. maybe replace or clean fuel selector switch (because ive been having to ride it on "reserve" this summer so far, it will idle on the "on" position but not go WOT and maybe clean or rebuild carbs?
-thanks cody
