I m replacing the front hatch lift cylinder .The bottom mount looks like it was riveted to the hull What can I use to reattach the bracet.I was thinking of using self tapping screws ,Not sure if the hull would be strong enough

I just repaired and replaced mine on a 2009 RXT-X...Look up the Seadoo service bulletin in regards to that. I siliconed the previous holes and moved the bracket over to the left like 10MM... drilled new holes and riveted (aluminum rivets) it back in. All the instructions are in that service bulletin....Google around for it...it will tell you exactly how to repair...

OBTW, one of our on-line vendors charges a lot for a gas cylinder, $70.99!

You can get a replacement from liftsupportsdepot.com Here's a link. Strong Arm 4072N10 Gas Charged Trunk Lift Support

Mind you, this is for a 2002 GTX. But the price difference is significant. I ordered two, and they work perfectly. Make sure you add these struts to you post ride lubrication. They are behind a cover, so they get missed, and corrosion takes a toll over time. Oh, and don't forget to install it with the rod end facing down.

Here is the OEM spec sheet from the Sea-Doo supplier.

What ski are you riding? Year?

What pop rivet gun are you using .I have a AIR riveter and a regular manual gun .Both of them I can't get down in the compartment to set the rivets

My recently purchased 05 had the top mount hole broken out. All the parts were there, but the mount hole is in an integral part of the lid. I ground off the remaining stub and fabricated a metal bracket with hole that I attached with self tapping screws (and a tiny dab of "Gorilla Glue". Since the machine's going to be used in freshwater (and I'm not equipped to weld stainless) I fabbed it of plain old carbon steel then coated with spray on Rhino Lining paint. I'll snap a picture or two this weekend if I can think of it.
