hey everyone , picked up a 95 xp 717 that had a bad motor , got the motor rebuilt , new crank brgs and top end redone , but messed up because i did not read carb rebuild thread , rebuilt carbs with aftermarket kits , installed the assembly and tried to start , got it running but was bleeding fuel over the ventures , shut it down , let it sit overnight and returned to crank case full of gas , pulled plugs and blew gas out , waiting on original kits to come now , but should i put oil down the carbs to get lube on the brgs and cylinders or just wait , kits will take about 2 weeks to get here

Yep carb thread should be the first stop. :)

You have something assembled incorrectly if gas is leaking into the engine. Find the problem and get that fixed and you'll be better able to install the new more expensive kits. I'd focus on getting the engine running and your problems will be solved. You'll also be able to ride your ski. Did you put the o-rings in the correct location on the seats?? Perhaps the diaphragms are releasing the pressure on the needles allowing fuel to come though unmetered. What kind of kit did you buy?

What I find with the aftermarket kits are the quality of the gaskets are not good, the needles and seats don't work as they should and the diaphragms are pitiful. The springs are never correct for the proper Pop-Off Pressure. This causes a host of issues that you'll be chasing and trying to figure out. :) Good move in ordering the genuine mikuni stuff. I hope you ordered needles and seats as well. You'll need the correct mikuni spring and you'll be set. Good Luck.
