I have a 94 xp with a blown motor I have owned this ski since new and instead of getting rid of it for parts I would rather rebuild it, however what I am finding is that the 657 which I have is very hard to find parts for and the 800 came in this hull and numerous other hulls as well. I guess what I really need to know is if the motor mounts are the same, fuel pump requirements, drive shaft compatibility and what not. I am aware that the 800 is efi and has a different wiring harness and ecu. I am looking for the efi version of the 800 as I plan to turbo this ski in the future. Any knowledgable input is greatly appreciated.

keep it wet:thumbsup:

OK... the simple answer is no... it will not fit. Yes, Seadoo put a bunch of engines in the same hull over the years... but there are too many differences between the 657 and the 800 to make it worth your time to swap. The drive shaft will physically go into the 800... but the entire electrical system would need to be changed... and the engine mounts would need to be fabricated.

It is not a "Bolt in" job.

If the drive shaft fits that was my biggest concern. Like I said I am aware of the whole rewiring issue. What other differences are there. Fabing up a couple of mounts is not a big deal. What I need to know is if there are any major design differences that will make this swap impossible like the drive shaft not fitting.

Has anybody done this swap?

like doc honda said; NO!!! the inside layer of the hull is completely different. you would hafta cut and glass 3 motor mount locations that don't exist in the 580-650-720 motor hulls. then you would haft do it over because you missed and the shaft doesn't line up. if you wanna fly you need the 800 xp hull. there are lots of dead 800 XP's out there cheap. if you must save the old beast for sentimental reasons, look on ebay. there is a lot of 650-720 stuff around. a 720 will swap right in. can even run the 650 pipe.
