Factory Pipe: Spec I or Spec II?

Hey guys, I'm looking to mod my ski. I have a 17/23 prop and some Novi tuned carbs coming. Also have a MSD ignition. I know I can't make all this work like it should unless I get a good pipe. I know that the Spec II factory pipe is the best one, but I found a pretty good deal on a Spec I system. How much better is Spec I over original? Do I need the less restrictive manifold to get full benefit from the Spec II? I have two 96 xp's, one going to be stock, and one to work out my arms Quick replies will be GREATLY appreciated, as this deal might slip away any minute.

Also, there's the option of going with a neptune pipe, but like the Spec II, will not do me any good w/o that less restrictive manifold?
