I was out in my boat today (1998 Sportster), and after taking a spin around the lake to warm it up, I decided to cool the girl off that was sitting in the front seat by dipping the bow into the water. Upon moving the lever into reverse, the cable ended up kinking and when I dissassmbled it to check what was wrong it appears the inner sleeve on the cable is broken near where it connects to the F-N-R lever (right where the adjustment nuts are). I tried to straighten it out. It will work in forward and neutral, but won't drop the reverse cup down far enough for an actual 'reverse'. So I beleive I need a new cable. Does anyone have the part number for this and the best places to purchase from? Are there any aftermarket companies that make one for this application? Again, it is a 1998 SeaDoo Sportster 1400 (single engine). Thanks guys!
Also, anything to watch out for when removing and reinstalling the new one? It looks pretty straight forward.
