I am fairly new to jet skis but have many years of mechanical experience. I have several Seadoo jet skis and have several questions.
The first question deals with my 1993 SPX- It has a clear plastic line that one end appears to be connected to what I believe is the air intake or possibly an air filter (small black plastic box inside under seat on rear of hull) The line is approximately a 3/8 line. I can't find what the other end connects to. Any ideas? I also have an issue when I start the engine, (it starts right up) it bellows smoke like its running more oil than gas in the cylinder. I just bought the machine from a female who claimed it ran perfect with no problems. She also claimed it was winterized. I'm thinking either whom ever winterized it may have pulled the spark plugs and put some other lubricant in the cylinder instead of the conventional fogging oil or----does anyone know if the injection system has adjustments or what might cause this?????? I don't think it is an internal problem like rings although I don't know if it has any type of valve seals etc.
My second issue deals with my 1995 SP- I was running it all last summer and it ran beautiful. Both this ski and my 1994 SPI are mint condition with not more than 25 hours of running time on either. Even inside the hulls are showroom condition! Compression is 150 on all cylinders which makes me believe these are what I was informed by the previous owner! ( he claimed to have bought them for his daughters but was alarmed by how much power and speed so they didn't ride very much-only when he and wife could supervise) The 1995 Sp was running great then all of a sudden it will only run 1/2 throttle (and it runs smooth)! If you open the throttle to full position it stalls. I changed the fuel filter in both machines. Could this be a carbureator issue being these machines have not had much use and probably lots of setting time? Do they have the CDI and can this be an issue? The 1994 SPI runs 100%!
I use premium fuel in all of my skis and Seadoo two cycle oil.
Any ides would greatly be appreciated! I'm new at this and have a lot to learn regarding small engine!
