Hi,
I've got a 1993 Seadoo spi, it has a 587 single carb yellow engnie and I believe it isn't the standard engine for the craft. The engine has a westcoast head on it. Recently I've had problems with the engine running, when the ski is first put in the water and started it will run fine at low RPM, but wont rev high, it only revs high enough to allow the jetski to plane. After running if for ten minutes the problem gets worse, it will still run perfecty at low RPM, but as the revs build it will missfire and backfire, and this means the jetski can't even plane. After around 20 minutes the jetski will cut out, and wont start for another 5 minutes.
Last winter, the engine was removed, and the engine was checked over for timeing, air-tightness, and also had the domes replaced as the current ones had cracked. The fuel system has been checked and fuel flow is fine, also the carburettor is perfect. The ony thing that hasnt been tested is the ignition system and as far as I know special tools are needed from sea doo to do this. Anyone had any similar problems? A reply will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
