Hi,

I wonder if anyone can give me some ideas. I acquired an old 95 speedster that is a bit of a project boat. One engine was seized which I've rebuilt and runs fine.

The other engine ran if I put a little fuel down the carb but wouldnt start so I've stripped the carbs, cleaned them well and re-fitted the. The engine now starts first time but won't idle. It races to max revs instantly and won't come down.

It's clearly something I've done with the carb, but not sure what, assuming I've got an air leak somewhere.

Any ideas?

Also, does anyone know of a parts supplier willing to send small parts to Dubai?

Thanks

Likely one of the base gaskets shifted, remove and reset them, a dab of grease will help them stay in place while you lower the carbs on top, if the screws do not go in straight away then lift and be certain the seal is centralized. once this is done then spraying some oil/kerosene will help detect where the leak is at, hopefully you pressure tested the cases during that rebuild, resealing a case will be a lot of work - out of the hull.

thanks, i haven't tested this case as I haven't rebuilt this engine (I did the other one though).

I'll try lifting the carbs again.

Thanks again
