Engine idling/bring up to speed issue

Hey, I'm new here, but been reading along at all the different posts recently since I bought my Challenger boat. I took it out with the previous owner and everything ran great. I took it out today for the first time since owning it and it did good, but when I went to bring it up on plane, the port engine cut out on me.
Now, I'm used to outboards. Had them all my life. This is my first jetboat/jetski. I'm used to priming th engine (which I don't have to do on these, right?) and am still learning how to maneuver since it's different than an I/O or outboard. Any tips about what could be causing the motor to cut out? I tried it a few times and it did it almost every time. Do I just need to slam the throttles down? I took it kinda easy every time.
I've been looking for an operators manual too. I found a parts manual, but can't seem to find an operators manual anywhere because I really wanna research this boat a bit more. Thanks,

Adam

You may have a fuel issue with the carb, they have little filters in them that tend to get clogged.. I know that my boat a 98 sportster does no have the bad gray fuel lines that you may have read about in here.. I cannot make that call about yours.. I also thnk you have rave valves that may need to be cleaned.. I am not an expert in that area, but I am sure someone here can help.. I would check the fuel filters too, they just screw and there should be an "O" ring so it is not sucking air.. There is one filter for each engine..

A few issures

My Starboard engine cuts out and I troubleshooting it right now. First off I found out that the previous ower was too cheap to fix his oil pump issue and his mechanic plugged both oil pumps. The prev owner then premixed his fuel and that sovled his "problem". Unfortunately, he didn't tell me he was premixing and started having roasted spark plugs, lean conditions, and due to no oil in the gas, overheating problems. The cool thing about your "new" motors is the overheat sensor on the top of the motor. When it senses the motor is over 205 degrees, the motor shuts off automatically. The Mpem should beep when you try to restart, but mine does not. Before I knew about the oil pump issue, I (with the help of timmy)decided to pull carbs and clean them out.
Hope this helps a little.

Rave Valves

Thanks, I'll give the fuel lines a shot. I haven't checked what color the hoses are, but I imagine they're the black ones. The guy I bought it off of had it serviced pretty extensively, so I would imagine that they would be replaced. I do have a question about the rave valves though... What and where are they? Is it part of the exhaust system? I read one thing about them somewhere, but just on how to clean them, not what they were or where they were located. Also, just to make sure, I imagine these engines need 93 octane (preferably without ethanol, but where do you find that now?). I haven't read anything about what type of gas to use, but I know some engines are designed for 87, some 89, and some 93. Using too low or too high can cause issues, so I just wanted to verify what they're supposed to use since I don't have any manuals on it. Thanks,

Adam
