I had my buddy come back on my 05 RXP with it smoking real bad and barely running, I took it to one dealership and they said just the supercharger, but the dealership It is at now said that the head is torn up and needs to be rebuilt to the tune of $4000!!! How much should an engine rebuild cost? I feel like the man hours are way higher than they should, any help would be appreciated.

A used running motor will set you back about $3000 so that seems high to me. Get your self a manual and pull the head your self and fing out what wrong with it, Or do you know whats wrong? What do you mean the heads torn up? Did it drop a valve? I suggest befor pulling the head do a compression test

if that dealer, anything like the dealer out here, probably, since refused the service, get his sh** back, in a box...

New engine

I just priced a new engine for my JetSki and the dealer here wanted $3000 to get it and put it in. I've seen engines on eBay for $1200 (1100 cc) and the carbs were another $800 (even though you likely don't need the carbs). Since I didn't have the time to fix it, I sold the JetSki that didn't run (but looked real pretty with only 136 hours) on eBay for $750. The dealer wanted to give me $250.

He has a 215hp 4tec these motors are $5000-$6000 NEW

Well the bill is totaled...$4300 for rebuild, new head, supercharger rebuild, starter relay....The ski was worth about 6000, and there was no way I was getting 1700 dollars for the broken condition, so I had no choice;) The worst part is there is only a 60 day warrenty with the rebuild!!!

You might be suprised what that ski would bring in parts. If you would spend a couple months on a site like this one you would know if you were being taken for a ride or not. It does not seem that they are confident in there work or just do not trust the public to properly take care of the ski for a beter warrenty. I would break it in properly then I would run the $hit out of it for the first 60 days if it does not come apart it is probbly ok. Robin
