:stupid:

I just found my latest project and am wondering if I'll regret it?
I found a 1995 Sportster (maybe 96) it has a lanyard instead of key

The engine was rebuilt 3 years ago with less than 2 hours on it.

That's the good news, the bad news is that it sat for 3 years.
The upholstery is cracked and mildewed, the battery is dead and probably needs replaced and she still has the gray fuel lines.

Is it best to remove the engine cover to access the engine compartment?

How do I reach the bolts on the upper arm rests? The manual says thru the cup holder hole. Shit my hands won't even fit in that hole!

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I hope I'm up for this challenge...

Read here, somewhere there were 2 discussions going about the seat removal, dr honda had one and it turned out very nice even though it is not a true seadoo color the overall job quality looks great. I am going to be doing this later in the season myself and I just read another post about newer model the autobody snap style retainers are not so easy to find.

Year of the Boat.

On the Back of the boat (Transom) is a Plastic plate (Hull Identification Number).
The last digit in the HIN is the Year. 95 and 96 have different Motors.
The seat back arms have a 10mm screw heads up from the bottom.
If You can not get to it from the cup holder. Try putting some cardboard
on top of the motor or motors. Lay down across the engine compartment
with Your Head up by the fuel cap and reach. Its not easy but I've done it.
The seat bottom is worse.
Good luck and Welcome to the Forum!
