He means clean your rave valves every season. Yes, two strokes still have a resorvoir at the bottom that is fed by your oil tank. And, I think you're confusing two stroke oil with pump oil. Pump oil is only used in the actual jet pump where it attaches the back of your ski.

No you don't have to drain any oil from your engine. You only have to add oil to your resorvoir (API-TC certified). You only need to drain your oil system when switching from mineral to synthetic. Synthetic should be brownish and mineral will be clearish. The jet pump oil is completely seperate. It is in the back of your ski. If you look in the back of your ski through the jet pump you will see a cone, that is where your jet pump oil is. You need to drain and refill this once a year using 75w-90 synthetic gear oil.

,,,

i ran 100 percent synthic seado xps and switiching to amsoil interceptor 100 percent sytnthic do i still have to drain the resevior

It is recommended wherever JASO FC or API TC two-cycle oils are specified. INTERCEPTOR is a premium quality replacement for recreational equipment manufacturers' branded two-cycle oils. It is compatible with most mineral and synthetic two-cycle oils, however, for best performance, mixing oils should be minimized.
^^^^^ Thats right off their website, so I would say yes drain the resorvoir. As somebody who works in the oil industry doing quality control and research I would always errr on the side of caution and drain it. You could also take 1 cup of amsoil and 1 cup of seadoo oil and mix it in a clear cup. Leave it for a week and observe if there is any seperation or chunks in the oil to see if they mix well with each other. You never know what additives each company added to there product. Sometimes certain additives don't like each other

Yo SeaDooYa:

Seems like the Thread gotten off track from the original question.

Reading your post, you recommended using a 75-90 synthetic!

On that note, when I went to Auto Zone to fetch some Jet Pump (JP) Oil, I recall reading previously on the Forum that a good substitute and much cheaper in price was to fetch synthetic Gear Oil, 75-90, just like you recommended.

However, when I read the label, 75-90 Gear Oil is a blend and 75-140 is full synthetic.

Can I use the latter "Gear Oil" (75-140) since it is full synthetic, or, search for the 75-90?

FYI, Wal-Marts brand Tech Gear Lub is 1/2 that of the major brand and is manufactured by either Penzoil or Quaker. The same for its brand of oil.
