Does a GTX seat work ok to sit backwards as an observer for tow sports?

Hello! Brand new to the forum and not a Sea Doo owner yet, but plan to pull the trigger soon. I currently have a 22 1/2 foot ski boat, but kids are growing up and moving out so we are selling the boat and downsizing to a Sea Doo. A friend towed us with his Yamaha Jet Ski so we know what it is like and know we are ok with it. We think a Sea Doo is the better choice for us. I think I want a 2022 GTX 230 with the ski pylon, wake board rack, and the ski mode module. Why not get a Wake Pro? That is another option, but I can get a GTX with iDF (I read about the rough start, but seems Sea Doo has iDF working now) which seems like a great feature with the ski related add-ons for slightly less money than the Wake Pro. My biggest question is to the late-model GTX owners out there - can you sit backwards as a tow sports observer on the GTX seat? There is definitely more back rest support on a GTX than on a Wake Pro, so probably better for facing forward, but does it make backwards really bad? I understand the Wake Pro is probably better for sitting backwards, but most of the usage will be facing forwards, so the GTX just has to be good enough for backwards. One extra question to help my decision - are intake clogs common? Curious about overall experience and how much I would need iDF. HOw heavily should I weight iDF in my decision?

Do you own a 2018 or newer Sea Doo with the LinQ ski pylon attachment? I have contacted BRP inc. (Sea Doo) management and board members to approve an additional accessory and investment of adding a seat post and swivel seat to the ski pylon. Would you like to have this accessory and option of the ski pylon as a seat pedestal and swivel seat?

Also does anyone have the 2022 Sea Doo Fish Pro Trophy with the new swivel seat? Sea Doo must have understood that without a swivel seat, with the wave or current action spinning the ski around it could make it hard to cast for fish.

Great to have a swivel seat accessary even if not just for fishing and seems clear that they spent much time on R&D and money on remanufacturing the body shell and seat for the pedestal attachment points.

I haven’t been able to inspect the new Trophy swivel seat, so would be interested to get owners opinions, it looks like there is a key type attachment insert of the pedestal to the body shell of the ski, and a round fit of the pedestal to the seat. I have a question if these types of attachments might have some looseness or play in them? If there is not solid attachments to the pedestal and seat the motion of the water can make this looseness or play even more irritating or annoying? What do you think? Would you like to have the option of an accessory that uses the ski pylon as a swiveling seat pedestal on this Fish Pro Trophy so that 2 people could use this at the same time?

The GTX and Wake have different seats and sitting backwards on the GTX seat looks like it could be hazardous to your reproductive equipment. You might want to look at the GTR and upgrade that it shares the same seat as the Wake.

Thank you for replies so far. I called a local dealer and his answer was "Sure. It will work." I was concerned based on pictures I see on the Sea Doo website (in line with skiasylum). I was hoping someone on this forum with a relatively new GTX would either have experience sitting backwards or could try it out for me with the ski sitting on their trailer or at their dock and let me know.

I think sitting backwards on a Seadoo of any year and model is a bit awkward. Haven’t done it on a GTX, but they say you are supposed to put your feet in the rests that are carved out in the rear corners. I have just never felt stable and comfortable riding backwards. For whatever that is worth.
