Do I need a new MPEM

1997 Challenger 1800. I always had good 'beeps', but was blowing 5 Amp fuse when ever battery was connected. Went through the Voltage Rectifier/Regulator and Magneto Stator and MPEM troubleshooting sequence. Replaced the passenger side motor Rectifier/Regulator and Magneto Stator. Still had good 'beeps', both engines started. Took it to the lake, it started right up, but both engines died before I got it off the trailer. Now no 'beeps'. Tried a fresh battery and still no 'beeps'.
