Would like to give my speedster200 and good wax/polish. The gelcoat is a little dull especially on the white parts, so either I take the time to do it myself or get it done....so if I do it myself what does everyone suggest to use for the best results, or does anyone know of a good mobile detail guy down in the St. Pete's FL area I could use??

I went to West Marine when I was last down and got a 3M product that cleans and waxes all in one but it is almost like a rubbing compound type wax...I am a little skeptical of using it on a gelcoat surface even though it says that's what it's for..??

You wont hurt it. Gel coat is very hard and durable. You can actually wet sand hard to polish areas and make it look new again. Use a 3M marine rubbing compound and a buffer. Polish it out and then wax it good.

I forgot a step. When I did mine last year, I used rubbing compound first. Then a glazing compound then wax. 3 steps.

3M Marine Rubbing Compound 9004
3M Finesse It II Glaze 9048
3M Marine Wax

It is 3 steps and takes a while and you will spend 75 bucks. But it will look brand new in the end. It's pretty easy.

Buff magic is amazing stuff. Here is a video I found on it

Great info...thanks for the link!! May end up trying it on both my boats!! lol

So, how often do you wash your boat?? I wash it after every outing but I use a dish soap, guess that's not too good!! What do you use as far as soap to get rid of the salt residue?? A guy at the Seadoo dealer told me to use the dish soap.

Do you know of any detailers that use that product??

I wash mine after every outing. I would never use dish soap. it strips off any wax you may have on there. i just use meguiars car wash to wash it. Of course im never in salt water. I do goto some lakes and rivers though that will stain it brown if i dont wash it.

This is last year after it was detailed with the process i listed. This is on a 12 year old boat.

Also, there is a product called salt away. i think a lot of people use it to wash the salt away after being in salt water.

Shurhold Buff Magic is the best stuff I have used. A lot of vides on youtube showing the proper technique and what to use. Great company.

I spray my motor and everything down with salt away, then I rinse and wash with just some car wash soap. I do this after every use.....then I re-wax it.

wow....that's crazy!! LOL

I checked out the buff Magic website, I think I will be buying the whole kit with the orbital, the buff magic and the polish. I can detail both boats and save a bunch of time hopefully!!
