dess defeat?

my lanyard broke on my 96 xp while in the water and lost the key completely. i was wondering if i could eliminate having a dess key and just go with a older style kill switch. i know the dess is a security feature but i dont really have a problem eliminating that if its possible.

but those will setcha back 400 buks. go to dealer, spend the 50 buks for key, and most places wil program for free.
