I bought a 98 speedster about 3 years ago from a guy in Denver. Brought it down to sea level. Have been running it for about 3 years and the only problem I have is I melted the raves twice but only on one of the motors. I have been reading that running the carbs too lean could overheat the engine. I thought maybee the jetting is set for high altitude making the boat run lean. But why would I not have problems with the other motor? I have to clean the Raves twice as much as I do on the motor that doesn't get hot. How could I tell if I have it jetted for high altitude or is this even my problem?

Try some of these.

if you were overheating you'd get an alarm from your sensor if not check it by taking the brown wire off the sensor and grounding it to bare metal on the engine and try to start the craft and it should kill the motor or prevent it from starting. I would check the oil pump to make sure that your getting oil and finally find an owners manual on ebay or clymers and check the adjestment of the carbs the only way you can really find out what jet is in there is by taking them apart and reading the numbers on the jet. Check the oil are you running a synthetic or mineral?

Maintance on rave vales.
There are no wear parts anywhere in the system
and there are no adjustments to be periodically
checked. The only possible maintenance required
would be cleaning of carbon deposits from the
guillotine slide. Cleaning intervals would depend
upon the user’s riding style and the quality of the
oil used. Using FORMULA XP-S synthetic injection
oil, we would suggest annual cleaning of the
valve. If a customer uses a lower quality oil, more
frequent cleaning may be required.
No special solvents or cleaners are required when
cleaning the valve.

must not be overheating cause the alarm doesn't come on. But I Grounded the wire & the motor wont start so I guess the switch is working fine. Have been using oil about $20 a gallon from Academy. Can't even remember the name of it. How is the Quicksilver synthetic?
