I had an interesting scenario crop up this past weekend, and I'm unsure if something is wrong, or if it was a fluke.

The ski:
2012 GTX 155
22 Hours
No known issues, professionally maintained, have maint records, etc, but I just got it early this summer.

The story:
I shut the ski down, and dropped my fiance off for a swim. Started up fine, and I went splashing around riding a good bit more aggressively without her for maybe a minute. Went back to her, shut down and floated for a minute or two. Started back up, and went for another very quick spin, returned, and shut down to get her back on. When I pressed the start/stop, nothing at all came up, just a blank screen. Tried pressing different angles, etc to make sure that the button underneath the rubber was being engaged, still nothing. We were getting a bit close to shore, so we jumped off and swam it out further for maybe a minute or two to buy some time. Jumped back on, and it was like nothing ever happened. Every time I press now, instant on just like before. Never any warnings or fault codes.

Does anyone have any suggestions of things I should be checking on? Was this just me starting and stopping too frequently? Did it just need a nap? [emoji23]

Are you certain the security key was making good contact with the post? I'm not sure which security system your ski uses - DESS or round ball post RFID....

You didn't mention anything about disconnecting the key from the ski.....so, I'm speculating a bit

I believe it is DESS. I always disconnect the key when I shut down out of habit, especially since that usually means I'm jumping off. When I start up, its button press to turn on the console, connect key and get the beeps, push to start. In this instance, my first button press attempts did not result in lighting up the console. After the few minutes, however, it was completely fine again.

OK, that is the proper sequence that I follow as well, push the SS button (wake the ski up) insert the DESS key (get the beep beep), push and hold SS until she engages and starts.

It is strange that the ski did not recognize the button push to "wake up", but then eventually woke up and you were good to go....all things considered, it could have been a fluke occurrence or the SS button is getting tired (it is a mechanical switch afterall, NORMALLY OPEN). I'd keep an eye on it and be ready to replace that switch if it becomes more problematic/frequent.

Thanks for your reply. I'm hoping it's just a fluke, of course. It has been fine since then, and I've been checking it in the driveway.

The only "other" thing that comes to mind is that the ski is 7 years old and they do get bounced around a lot, so if you are so inclined, I'd start checking your electrical connections, cleaning, loosening/tightening, wiggling connections to make sure everything is sealed and tight....it really doesn't take a lot of corrosion to cause an intermittent issue (and they are buggers to find). A little love goes a long way....good luck with it.
