How long do you guys need to crank your 787s before they catch and start? I choke mine and give it about 5 seconds and it catches from a cold start. If the engine has ran within the last 3 hours it pops off instantly.

Not sure if it's normal or not, wondering what you guys are seeing.

I usually turn off the fuel for a few seconds as I blip the throttle few times clearing out the water in the exhaust. So after it sits and when I crank the next week it takes longer than a few seconds to catch. I'd say as I hold choke and hold start it takes nearly 5 to 8 seconds, and maybe a second try for a few more seconds. Once running, fuel still on, restart is pretty much instant.

Awesome. Good to go then. Got a little worried because some people were saying theirs are starting almost instantly but didn't specify if it was a cold start or a warm re-start

I noticed my 787 gtx takes a little longer to get going when it's a cold start, same as yours. The 580 and 657 in the yard tend to fire up a little sooner.

I have a primer injector on mine. It takes quite a few pumps to get fuel back onto the lines, but mine is situated so that it primes the actual intake line.

Be careful with the primer on the feed line because when they start to go bad you will suck air into the fuel lines and go lean. Just had a buddy ruin an engine that way last summer. The safest method is to make a dip in the return line and feed the primer from there.
