I recently bought a 1998 challenger 1800 with unknown history/ parts missing. 1st motor starts good idles well until rpms increase then it falls off. The rave valves have a huge portion cut away ,like 30% of valve, im assuming itll need to be replaced but thats not my major problem at this time. my 2nd motor had terrible compression so I sent it out for repair got it back yesterday reassembled along with cleaning carb started it last night, which wasnt easy for a rookie like me, i used starter fluid but it started comp. checked good. now today I planned on getting more in depth. Hooked hose up to 1st engine started and ran it for a few minutes looking for leaks etc but did not pinch off any cooling lines. Then changed over water to 2nd motor cranks but no start. Ive been reading on the forum off and on all day and I think I my watering procedure was wrong and Im worried about the water that may be in engine 2. Is this right or is the watering not a concern I should be after. Im new to seadoo and would appreciate any help at this point. thanx

as long as your engine was running before turning on the water... and you turn off the watter before killing the engine... you will be fine.

If the water is flowing when the engine isn't running... it will flow up the exhaust, and get into the engin.

If you think you got water into the engine... pull the plugs, and crank it dry.

It does appear to have water in motor. Do I have to ground the plugs before cranking the motor or just remove them and crank motor? Thanx

I still cant get this motor to start. I have good compression on both sides. My battery is strong and cranks motor well. I pull the choke press start button up to 7-8 seconds engine cranks but never starts. If I put throttle 50-75% up it sounds like it may fire but doesnt. Also with the throttle on it sputters a bit when im done cranking. A little teaser I guess. My plug tips have a grayish brownish fluid on it. yes Im a nooby and would appreciate any help. My other motor fires good following this procedure.
