I've got a 95 GSX that isn't starting. I've got power in both the rear electrical box and the front box at the MPEM. My dess post doesn't beep and the guages won't come on.

I'm trying to check my grounds (among other things).

1. I've read where there are normally 6 different grounds. Can anyone tell me where all of those are located?

2. I've jumped the starter relay and it turns over. I've tested it - the battery side of the post shows 12 volts. The wire running to the starter doesn't show any. What does this tell me?

3. I pulled the harness in the front of the engine (I think this is the Magneto Harness). Is there any way to test this plug (in the shop manual on page 8-02-11 it shows a harness adapter {P / N 295 000 131} which I don't have to test the resistance)?

Thanks

you dont need the adapter. If you have an ohm meter you can get on the pins of the connector. I think the manual shows the resistance between each of the yellows to each other should be between .5 and 1 ohm. They should show no conductivity to ground. I have had three stator failures and each time each yellow was shorted to ground. Depending on the year of the craft it blows different fuses and sometimes two of them if they are shorted to ground.

I cant answer much here, but I do believe that you need to test the wire running to the starter by positive on positive and then ground your connection. After that hit your start button and you should see 12v. Theoretically, you won't have 12v running through all the time or your starter would continuously spin.

As far as the grounds, there is a wiring diagram in the "manuals" section... I know thats not the best answer but they have been a blessing for me.

Thanks. I put the volt meter on the relay post, grounded the other pin, and hit the start button - didn't get anything. Does this mean the relay is bad or is it something else?
