Had coolant leaking into the hull (2012 GTI 130) and put a bottle on the coolant reservoir overflow tube to see if it was coming from there... It was. From reading up on this forum it seems that replacing the head gasket is the thing to do now.

First question is does anyone have a different opinion about this???

If I am replacing the head gasket is there anything else I should check, swap out... etc? I have a shop manual so anything covered in it I will be doing.

Any tips or tricks which apply are always welcome as well

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Typically that does mean you have a bad head gasket. Make sure to get new head bolts and torque them properly. After your done doing the angle torques, check again to make sure they are at least 75 ft-lbs tight. Even brand new head bolts can fail right away which will cause a head gasket leak.

OK, I will follow the shop manual instructions carefully. Thanks. I got all the parts ordered and next will order the proprietary tools. I have wholesale accounts with a few online vendors but had to do another application for these specialty tools (2wheelspros). Any wholesale options y'all use that I should look into. I have cycle parts nation and SBT right now.

In the future keep us in mind for your part needs. I can likely work with the price too if you PM me. www.seadoowarehouse.com

Please report back after you install the new parts.
