Cool problem

Hi,

Neat little problem-

Out at the lake today when drivers side engine begins to bog so badly it won't go over 2k rpm.

Interestingly i wondered if it might be a water problem, as the carbon seals leak and we had been sitting stopped for 15mins ish, so i turn the bilge pump on and out of habbit turn the fan on, rpms instantly begin to rise back to normal.

Turn fan off, begins to bog, fan on returns to normal.

Exhaust leak, correct?

So we pull the transom platform while idle and can't really see any exhaust leak but it smells strongly of exhaust.

Any tips/tricks to find an exhaust leak?

Also what's this little ball thingy?

1995 Challneger 1500 twin rotax.

Thanks!

Solved!
Rusted exhaust tube cap.

Not sure what the purpose of a tube from each exhaust leading to the opposite side with a metal plug is...?

No clue about that blocked hose but glad you found the leak.

The "ball" thing is known as a scupper valve. It drains out a bunch of water then when it is out of the water and the ball drops then when submerged the ball floats and seals off the drain.
